Comr. Muhammad Arafat Enanie said Wednesday during a code of ethics violation hearing that National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Ito Sumardi had been involved in the Gayus Halomoan Tambunan multi-billion rupiah case brokering scandal.
"Haposan Hutagalung [Gayus' lawyer] once said that the transition from previous chief detective [Susno Duadji] to the new one [Ito] had given him a headache. The two will get their respective shares," Arafat told the hearing as quoted by kompas.com.
Gayus' multi-billion rupiah bank account was blocked by police but was later reopened by Brig. Gen. Raja Erizman, a special economy director from the police detective unit, soon after Ito had taken over the detective chief post from Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji.
Ito denied Arafat's statement. "That's not true. I do not know anyone named Arafat, " Ito said.
