Julia Perez collects Rp 7b for election campaign

JAKARTA: Actress and singer Julia Perez doesn’t seem to mind the public’s outcry against her bid to run in the Pacitan regency election.

In fact, she has collected  Rp 7 billion to ensure her dream comes true.

“We [she and her team] have already amassed Rp 7 billion for my candidacy,” Julia, or known as Jupe, said recently as quoted by newsportal okezone.com.

Jupe, however, refused to reveal where the Rp 7 billion came from, saying only that all preparations needed for her candidacy had been carried out, including setting up a campaign team headed by Sutikno and actor-cum-lawyer Gusti Randa.

“You can ask my campaign team about the details of the funding,” said Jupe.

Jupe added that she was highly confident she would win enough support to run for the deputy regent’s position in Pacitan, East Java. She claimed she had received many positive responses from other celebrities, police officers and public figures.  — JP
