The Islam Defenders Front (FPI) has threatened to raid movie theaters that will screen a locally made comedy film starring Japanese porn star Maria “Miyabi” Ozawa at its premiere on Thursday.

FPI’s unit head Mustafa Embong said Wednesday the hardline Muslim group would consistently oppose anything related to the movie star, whose film Menculik Miyabi (Kidnapping Miyabi) marks her debut in the Indonesian movie industry.

“The movie’s director and the [production house] management have gone wild. We don’t guarantee [the premiere] will be secure.

“We will hunt them down because they have broken their promise to cancel the movie,” Mustafa said as quoted by kompas.com.

Ody Mulya Hidayat of Maxima Pictures, which produced the movie, said the film had passed state-run censor body almost uncut under the category of a teen movie.

The Cinema 21 movie theater network has announced the immediate screening of the movie.

Since when is the FPI a branch of the Indonesian government? Isn’t issuing threats against the law? If they are threatening the movie theaters, why are they not being arrested? When is the government going to control these mobsters?

Initially, I had no plan to watch this movie as I didn’t care about it, but because these people are threatening freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and basic freedom, I’m going to watch it.

If they come to disrupt the movie theater, I hope people will stand with me to show them what they truly are.

If the police allow FPI members to violently push their ideals, then why can’t other groups? Military, it is high time for you to take action.

David, don’t worry, since the government won’t disband them we Indonesians in the capital will ... RIP to the FPI. It is time for action, instead of lack of action.

I wasn’t going to go to see this film, but now I will. I just want to because the FPI is opposed to it.
