Policeman: Comr. Gen. Susno DuadjiComr. Gen. Susno Duadji The National Police declared its former chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji a suspect in a corruption, case detaining him after hours of questioning on Monday.

"After being questioned, he was presented an arrest warrant and declared a suspect, then he was detained," Susno's lawyer M. Assegaf was quoted as saying by kompas.com.

The maverick general on Thursday refused to turn up for questioning at the National Police headquarters as a witness to alleged case brokering within the police force on Thursday, saying he feared it was a trap to arrest him.

On Friday Susno sought protection from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

Susno said Monday he complied with the police summons this time to respect the police as an institution. But he ended up being detained.

Susno, who lost his chief detective post after a presidential team uncovered a plot to frame two Corruption Eradication Commission leaders last November, has come under media spotlight after he struck back by unveiling case brokering involving a tax official, police officers and state prosecutors. A suspect in the case said Susno was part of the case brokering mafia himself.
