A motorist, identified as Musa Alfian, 21, was hit by a cargo train at a level crossing in Kapas district, Bojonegoro, on the wee hours of Thursday, while his friend, Firmansyah who drove with him, was severely wounded.

“The victim (Musa Alfian) was apparently exhausted and sleepy when he was riding his motorbike at the crossing  so that he was not aware of an approaching train,” Kapas Police chief Adj. Com. Tabita Resley said as quoted by kompas.com news portal.

According to witnesses, Tabita said, the train had given signals through its horn several times, but the motorist did not hear them.

“The witnesses only saw the incident from a distance and did see details how the two men were hit by the train,” Tabita said.

The two victims were found 200 meters away from the incident site. Musa Alfian died instantly on the spot.

The victims’ motorbike was wholly damaged after being dragged one kilometer away from the incident site.

The two victims were rushed to Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Hospital (in Bojonegoro),” Tabita said.
