The police have seized Rp 1 billion (US$110,000) in cash from terrorist suspects, who admitted to raising the fund to finance acts of terror in Aceh.

National Police chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri said the money in rupiah, Malaysian ringgit and US dollar currencies from suspected terrorists Abdul Haris, Haryadi Usman, Syarif Usman, and Maulana.

"From Maulana we seized Rp 250 million in cash,” Bambang told a media conference on Friday. Maulana was shot dead during a raid in Cawang, East Jakarta on Wednesday.

The police confiscated Rp 400 million from Abdul, Rp 200 million from Syarif and Rp 150 million from Haryadi.

It remains unknown how the suspects obtained the money.

The police’s counterterrorism squad arrested over 20 suspects and killed five others in a series of raids over the past week. A total of 58 terrorist suspects have been nabbed, while 13 killed in a massive crackdown on terrorism since January this year.
