After Sri Mulyani Indrawati decided to leave the Finance Ministry for the World Bank, casual or naive observers unwittingly expressed pride in hearing that an Indonesian has been catapulted to international heights.
Opposition leaders expressed dismay with American power and arrogance, and vented that anger through criticism of both Mulyani's departure and the stance taken by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Smarter politicians saw Mulyani's departure as a loss for Indonesia. (By Budiono Kusumohamidjojo, Jakarta)
Your comments:
Many intelligent Indonesians will do whatever they must to leave Indonesia.
Ibu Sri is one example. There are many others who are not in the news because they do not hold public positions.
Many nationalists say that people like Ibu Sri do not have a sense of pride in the country.
Ibu Sri - like many other intelligent Indonesians - tried her best to make a positive contribution to the nation. But the system is controlled by those who do not want change.

The resolution on co-operatives and social development was proposed by 55 UN member states and was passed in December 2009 by consensus.
It recognizes that the co-operative business model is a major factor in realizing economic and social development and calls on governments, international institutions, co-operatives and other stakeholders to support the development and growth of co-operatives worldwide.

Sri Mulyani Indrawati victoriously paves her way to arrive at the peak of the mountain: The rising star of the world. In the midst of excruciating political pressure on her, the finance minister has just now been rewarded with the international prestigious position as managing director of the World Bank.
While our country's brothers and sisters of the House of Representatives continually place her as the subject of ridicule and condemnation, outsiders or foreigners have admitted her as the manager of a reputable international institution.
The House members say that her resignation is a comfortable exit to escape the troubled Bank Century case. They further believe that her leaving for the World Bank is nothing more than the action of a coward loser who leaves responsibility behind her. (By Donny Syofyan, Padang)
Your comments:
I think Sri Mulyani Indrawati is a good leader; the bureaucratic reforms that she introduced have been successful. In my opinion, she is concerned about the quality of the human resources in the Finance Ministry.

I think the most stupid and corrupt institution in Indonesia is the House of Representatives.
They are so arrogant, as if they were the most perfect institution that has a mandate to select people for important posts, from the governor of Bank Indonesia, the head of the Supreme Auditing Agency (BPK) to ambassadors.

So far, we have only seen positive opinions written in regard to the Sri Mulyani debacle. Actually, there are some scholars who voice strong criticism against Sri Mulyani's policies and actions. Where are they now? Can their arguments be expressed in a written manner?
