JAKARTA: North Jakarta's National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) is aiming to distribute birth control pills to 66,039 women in a bid to check the birth rate.
"Up to this month, we have distributed pills to 34 percent of out target acceptors through free family planning services and road shows," North Jakarta BKKBN's head of people's empowerment division Dahri Zaenal said as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Friday.
This year's target, he said, was higher than that of last year of only 61,384 acceptors.
"We continue familiarizing people with family planning programs, especially among people from low income backgrounds, so that they can improve their family's welfare," Dahri said.
Even with a limited number of campaigner officials, he was optimistic the board would reach their target.
"So far we have only 68 campaigners and we expect them to familiarize at least 10 people every day with the family planning programs," Dahri said. - JP
