AKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has found a replacement for his spokesman for foreign affairs, Dino Patti Djalal, who has been nominated as an Indonesian ambassador to the United States.
A senior staffer at the Presidential Palace told detik.com on Friday the new spokesman was Dino's junior at the Foreign Ministry, but refused to name anyone.
"When will he be sworn in? Maybe within one or two months," the staffer, who refused to be identified," he said.
He added that Dino would announce the name of his replacement, and that the latter's inauguration would take place after the House of Representatives announced the result of Dino's fit and proper test required for his nomination as the Washington-based ambassador.
"The House of Representatives has not announced the result yet; we must await that. As for the name of the replacement, Pak Dino will announce it maybe after Obama's visit here *in June*."
Dino's replacement, he said, has been trained since last year. - JP
