A team of investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) met Tuesday with their National Police counterparts to discuss the ongoing inquiry into the controversial Rp 6.7 trillion (US$716 million) Bank Century bailout.
KPK spokesman Johan Budi said the meeting was not attended by any top official from either institution.
Johan said the KPK aimed to gather more data and information regarding the case. “We appreciate all information to clear up the case,” he said as quoted by Antara state news agency.
Earlier this year, the KPK had said it had found indications of corruption in the controversial bailout.
At least 90 witnesses from Bank Indonesia, the Finance Ministry, the Depository Insurance Corporation, and other institutions, including Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, were summoned to give their testimony on the bailout.
The KPK is focusing its investigations of alleged graft on Century's handling of the central bank's Rp 689 billion (US$75 million) short-term liquidity assistance, the Rp 6.76 trillion bailout and the channeling of the funds.
