Letters: Indonesian feminists

This is a comment on an article titled "The rise and fall of Indonesia's women's movement" (the Post, April 21).
The most important issue in feminist movement in Indonesia is: We still don't get what it is we really want and need.
Western values (freedom, the feminist movement, democracy) have become popular and mainstream values that every country should follow, like it or not.
But when Indonesia convert these values, we realize that we have a different background; and that's why we are now confused as to how to make a blueprint of what the Indonesian feminist wants - whether it is typically Western, Islam-like, or a mix of both.
