JAKARTA: The East Jakarta District Court will kick off next week the trial of a murder case involving an 11-year-old boy accused of attacking and killing his foster mother in Ciracas last year.
"The trial will begin Tuesday or Wednesday," child protection commission secretary-general Arist Merdeka Sirait told tempointeraktif.com on Friday.
The commission, according to Arist, has prepared a team of lawyers to defend Anton, the suspect.
Anton had admitted to killing his foster mother, Etty Rochyati, with a wooden plank, a hammer and a knife, because he felt badly treated.
Anton, who was born in Nias, North Sumatra, was adopted by a family in Medan, North Sumatra, after the 2004 tsunami claimed the life of his father.
He was then reportedly brought by another family to Jakarta. - JP
