The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) will announce on Monday whether to accept a request for protection from former National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji.

LPSK spokeswoman Lies Sulistiani said on Saturday the agency would disclose its official response to Susno’s request during a press conference on Monday at 6 p.m.

On May 7, Susno’s lawyers filed a protection request with the agency over the facts that their client had frequently received threats since he disclosed graft cases within the police force.

LPSK chairman Abdul Haris Semendawai said he had formed a team to follow up the request.

“The team has met Susno at his detention last week. We have also coordinated with his lawyers and police investigators,” Abdul told The Jakarta Post.

During the meeting with Susno, Abdul said, the former detective chief testified that he received threats through phone calls and text messages. “He also said that he had noticed certain people stalked him wherever he went,” Abdul said.

The LPSK is now studying all information regarding Susno’s request and will hold a plenary meeting on Monday to decide whether Susno is eligible or not for the protection program in accordance with the 2006 Witness and Victim Protection Law.

The police have named Susno a suspect in a bribery case.
