Issues: `Sri Mulyani is overreacting: Golkar'

A- A A+

A Golkar Party senior politician thinks finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati is overreacting in her latest speech, delivered during a public lecture held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jakarta.

Sri said in her speech that her decision to resign from her post and to take a new job as one of the World Bank's managing directors was because the country's political system did not want her anymore.

"I believe that sentiment is Dr. Sri's personal judgment and an expression of her excessive anxiety," Golkar Party deputy chairman Priyo Budi Santoso told reporters at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday. Priyo, who is also a House deputy speaker, added that Mulyani should have been grateful because she had been given a "soft landing" and was not being made a scapegoat.

Mulyani has been in the hot seat for her alleged involvement in the Bank Century case, which revolves around a bailout that increased tenfold to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million). In the midst of the escalating political rift, Mulyani was suddenly appointed to a new job at the World Bank starting in June.

Your comments:

First Golkar stabs the knife into Sri Mulyani and now it turns the blade in the wound and asks Sri to be grateful!

Priyo Budi Santoso's utterances that Sri Mulyani should have been grateful because she was given a "soft landing" and was not being used as a scapegoat shows that she must have been considered, at least by Golkar, to be the/a scapegoat.

Question now is: Who will be on the block to get his/her head cut off next? Perhaps Pak Budi can enlighten us some more about what will pacify Pak Budi's boss?

I think the headline should be written in reverse: Golkar deputy is overreacting: Sri Mulyani. An unhappy childhood does not give you the privilege to act childishly when you grow up, especially when you hold political position in a nation.

To the "most esteemed" Priyo, you should carefully think before giving statements, since it unveils Golkar's intention to make Sri Mulyani a scapegoat. I personally feel grateful for all the hysterics and overacting from your colleagues during the Century case.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should initiate an investigation against corruption among Indonesian politicians.

No wonder the House of Representatives' building leans because it's been loaded with full of orang miring (crazy people). They should all seek help before straight jackets become necessary.

I have strong words for the Golkar Party: Please stop existing. We have had enough of your nonsensical accusations against a competent ruling party that has been trying to fix the ills of the country because of the decades you spent pillaging this country. We know who the good and bad guys are and if you can't tell, that's why we have put the current ruling party into power with a majority of the seats.

Oh, come on! Who's the "king"? Sri Mulyani Indrawati was just another pawn.
