Anas to include rivals in new leadership structure

The new Democratic Party chairman, Anas Urbaningrum, will include his rivals, Andi Mallarangeng and Marzuki Alie, in the new leadership structure, a close aide says.

"Our principle is to accommodate everyone. Pak Marzuki and Pak Andi are both worthy assets for the party and therefore, they will be given strategic posts," Anas’s campaign team spokesperson Saan Mustopa told reporters at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Saan said both Marzuki and Andi could either be put on the central executive board or on the patron board.

Anas defeated Marzuki and Andi for the chairmanship at an election at the Democratic Party national congress in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday.
