13 illegal logging suspects arrested in East Kalimantan

The East Kalimantan Police have arrested 13 people for their alleged involvement in illegal logging in the East Kutai regency area.
“We arrested the suspects and confiscated 600 logs on May 10,” Adj. Sr. Comr. Leo Bona Lubis, head of the provincial Mobile Brigade unit, told Antara state news agency.
Bona said the suspects had been handed over to East Kutai Police for legal processing.
In East Kalimantan, police data shows that forestry crime, including illegal logging, hit 314 cases in 2007, of which 187 were handed over to the East Kalimantan Prosecutor’s Office. In 2008, there were 220 cases, 92 of which were brought to the prosecutor’s office.
