A banker was the first person to register for selection for the position of a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief on Wednesday, two days after applications for the vacancy were invited.
The candidate, Hertanto T Surya, currently a managing partner of Bina Indonusa System, expressed guarded optimism that he could lead the antigraft commission, citing his experience in managing millions of employees.
“I have been a bank president director four times, I am a law graduate and have become a top executive who has managed millions of employees,” Hertanto told kompas.com at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights office in South Jakarta.
He said the KPK was in need of honest leaders to eradicate corruption in the country which he said was systemic.
He claimed to have built up a good relationship with the police top brass and Cabinet ministers.
