House Century team meets with AGO officials

The House of Representatives monitoring team on the Bank Century bailout case met with the officials from the Attorney General's Office (AGO) Wednesday.

"We are going to follow up to see how far the AGO has got with the House's recommendations on the case," one of the team members, Bambang Soesatyo from the Golkar Party, told reporters at the House in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The House deemed the bailout, which rose tenfold from its original estimate to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million), as flawed in March and that legal measures had to be taken by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the National Police and the AGO against those responsible.

The bailout was authorized in November 2008 by the then Bank Indonesia governor Boediono and the then finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Boediono is now vice president and Mulyani is now one of the World Bank's managing directors.

The team held two similar meetings with the KPK and the police to follow up on the bailout case, but an administrative error caused the previous meetings to end prematurely.
