Formula One is hopeful of making a decision on next season's tire supplier in the coming days, after failing to reach an agreement at the Turkish Grand Prix.

Current supplier Bridgestone is abandoing the sport at the end of the season. Pirelli and Michelin are the front-runners to replace the Japanese company, which has been the sport's sole supplier since 2007.

F1 teams met with Michelin at the Istanbul Park Circuit on Sunday, with several team principals emerging from the meeting hopeful that a decision will be reached this week.

Michelin had two spells in Formula One, most recently from 2001-06. Pirelli last supplied tires to F1 in 1991.
