Jakmania destroys stadium gates in sector 7,8

Thousands of Persija soccer club supporters or known as Jakmania, destroyed on Sunday gates in sector 7 and 8 of the Gelora Bung Karno stadium after the gates were closed for an unclear reason.

The supporters broke five gates and entered the stadium whether they had tickets or not to watch a match between Persija and Arema Malang.

Several policemen just watched the incident as they were powerless to stop the chaos.

Adj. Comr. Kusnandi, a policeman in the stadion, said as quoted by kompas.com that the stadion was still able to accommodate supporters, thus he did not understand the reason the gates in sector 7 and 8 were still closed when the match began.
