C. Jakarta to cooperate with Japan on waste issue

JAKARTA: The Central Jakarta municipality will initiate cooperation with the city of Kitakyushu, known as one of the cleanest cities in Japan, to handle waste problems this year.
The cooperation will include the adoption of Kitakyushu waste management called Takakura, which dries waste of water, with RW 01 and RW 02 community units, Cempaka Putih Timur subdistrict, as its pilot project.
“Experts [from Japan] will be sent to facilitate the process,” said head of Central Jakarta environment management office (KPLH) Monday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
The municipality planned to apply the waste management method in 44 subdistricts in 2011 and 2012. —JP
