Starting this year, those applying to high-ranking state official positions will be required to disclose full asset statements (LHKPN), an official said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
“The asset statement is very important to show the transparency of the candidates and it will be an administration requirement for candidates before working as executive in state firms,” the secretary for the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry, Said Didu, told reporters.
He said that candidates who already held positions as SOE executives had to provide statements within two months of their inauguration, otherwise they would be dismissed from their position.
“This is a new requirement for SOE executives, candidates who can't submit wealth reports will not be considered for positions, and may even be dismissed,” Said said, adding the new requirement on asset declaration would help the ministry in collecting the reports before handing them to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Said acknowledged he had faced difficulties in collecting statements from existing SOE executives.
“I've sent two notifications to those officials, asking them to immediately submit their asset reports. I've also phoned each of them as a reminder," he said, adding that all high ranking executives had to submit wealth reports before June 5, otherwise they would face sanctions from the ministry.
