Court throws out Misbakhun's pretrial lawsuit

Presiding judge Artha Theresia of the South Jakarta District Court rejected Wednesday a pretrial lawsuit requested by crime suspect Misbakhun, a lawmaker from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

"The court considers the letter of arrest and detention [for the suspect] legal," said Artha.

Misbakhun reportedly filed a pretrial lawsuit two weeks ago against the National Police over his arrest for allegedly falsifying a letter of credit to obtain US$22.5 million credit from Bank Century (now Bank Mutiara).

Misbakhun, who was arrested in April, was among the members of House of Representatives' special inquiry team on the Bank Century Rp 6.76 trillion bailout. In March, the House declared the bailout was flawed.
