The House of Representatives says that it has not yet received the names of the Bank Indonesia (BI) governor candidates from the government.
"I hope the government can submit the official proposal today," one of the House deputy speakers, Pramono Anung from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), told reporters at the House in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Currently, Bank Indonesia is governed by an interim governor, Darmin Nasution.
Pramono said it would not be wise if the government continuously maintained an interim governor in the midst of the European financial crisis that had the potential to affect Indonesia's financial market.
"We need a permanent governor as soon as possible," Pramono said.
