State prosecutors indicted a German national Thursday on drug trafficking and possession charges which are punishable by 15 years in prison.
Reading out the indictment at Denpasar District Court, prosecutor D. Rindayani said the defendant, Peter Achim Ranz alias Qrobmann, 51, was found to have smuggled 6.73 grams of marijuana seeds and an ecstasy pill, hidden inside his underwear when he arrived at Ngurah Rai Airport from Amsterdam on March 10, 2010.
Airport customs and excise officers searched Ranz upon his arrival, as he displayed signs of having consumed drugs. The officers discovered cocaine on his hands and bag, while the marijuana seeds and ecstasy pill were found during a body search.
In response to the charges, the defendant’s lawyer, Muhammad Husein, said his client would not rebut the accusation.
The trial was adjourned until next week to hear witness testimony.
