Giant consumer products maker PT Unilever Indonesia, which signed celebrities Luna Maya and Ariel Peterpan for Lux advertisements, has received a written statement from the couple saying a sex video featuring them has been doctored, and that it was not them in the clips.
Sancoyo Antarikso, the spokesman of Unilever, said they would meet with Luna Maya and Ariel before deciding the future of their cooperation, but the Lux TV ad has not aired since early this week. Luna had been appearing in ads with Ariel.
Luna is also an ambassador for the World Food Program.
The clips have prompted Jakarta councilor Igo Ilham of the Islam-based Prosperous Justice Party to call for raids on pornography in schools to thwart the dissemination of explicit material among students.
