City police gets new chief from W. Java

JAKARTA: Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Wahyono will be replaced by West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Timur Pradopo in a major reshuffle at the National Police.

The reshuffle was announced Tuesday by National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang at police headquarters.

He said Wahyono would head the National Police intelligence and security agency, replacing Insp. Gen. Saleh Saaf, who is retiring.

West Java Police will be headed by Brig. Gen. Sutarman, who currently heads the National Police Advance School for Education and Training Officers.

Edward said the latest reshuffle affected 103 personnel, including 23 high-ranking officers.

"Eleven high-ranking officers will be rotated, while the rest are retiring," Edward was quoted as saying by news portal kompas.com.

Papua Police deputy chief Brig. Gen. Syafei Aksal will be promoted to inspector general as Mobile Brigade Corps elite force commander, replacing Insp. Gen. Imam Sudjarwo. -JP
