DENPASAR: Bali won an award from the Environment Ministry to recognize its environment program planning, edging out West Sumatra and Yogyakarta.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono delivered the award to Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika in a ceremony at the State Palace on Tuesday.

Bali has been successful in providing accurate data and information on environmental issues to determine and to evaluate the government’s priorities and policies regarding the issues.

“The award has encouraged the province to continuously improve our environmental policies and programs to create a sustainable, green and clean Bali,” said the governor upon receiving the award. — JP
