Moderate quake strikes in desert east of San Diego

A moderate earthquake has rattled a desert area east of San Diego. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-4.8 quake struck at 8:08 p.m. local time about 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of Borrego Springs. Residents in downtown San Diego could feel the ground rumbling.
Borrego Springs is about 90 miles (144 kilometers) northeast of San Diego.
