Dems approaches human rights activists

Numerous human rights activists have been tipped to chair several departments in the new Democratic Party leadership structure, party chairman Anas Urbaningrum confidant's says.

The activists include Usman Hamid from the National Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) and Rachland Nashidik from Impartial Human Rights Watch.

"We open rooms for independent people. So far, Usman is still contemplating, while Rachland definitely will be part of the new leadership structure," Anas' spokesperson Saan Mustopa told reporters at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Saan said that Rachland's post could not be publicly revealed yet.

"The official announcement will be made tomorrow at 2 p.m.," Saan said.

Rachland, via his Twitter account @ranabaja, refused to confirm about his appointment.

"Wait until the announcement," he said.

Both Rachland and Usman are well known for their persistence in fighting for the resolution of human rights activist Munir murder case and the May 1998 tragedy.
