Lawyer of former South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Williardi Wizard, Apolos Djara Bonga, said that his client would file an appeal to the Supreme Court following the Jakarta High Court’s decision to uphold his 12-years prison sentence for a homicide case.
“The [Supreme Court] verdict did not touch any principle of justice,” Apolos told kompas.com on Thursday.
Apolos said that panel of judges had ignored facts and evidence given at the trial when deciding the verdict.
“The Criminal Law stipulates a minimum of two pieces of evidence. However, if the evidence provided was less than that, [the verdict] is considered a prediction,” he added.
On Thursday, the Jakarta High Court upheld a lower court’s verdict on Williardi, who was found guilty of taking part in the murder of businessman Nasruddin Zulkarnaen in March last year.
The court also upheld the 18-year prison sentence for former Corruption Eradication Commission chief Antasari Azhar, who masterminded the murder.
