UPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Suryani passed away Thursday after a tragic cake poisoning incident that took the lives of her four children after they made homemade food late Monday in their home in Kojageta village in Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
Only the husband, 42-year-old Syamsul, survived since he was not home when his wife served the deadly corn cake.
The five victims were taken to RSUD TC Hillers in Maumere but could not be saved. Two of Suryani's children passed away Tuesday and the two others died Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
"Suryani passed away Thursday noon, just eight hours after her eldest daughter died," said Kojagete village chief Kartono Friday.
