Jakarta Police detectives are helping the South Jakarta police hunt down a man suspected of involvement in the murder of a Japanese couple at their residence in Rawa Lele area in Tangerang on Thursday.
City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said on Saturday the detectives believed the suspect, identified as Irwan, had not left Jakarta.
“Obviously he is still around Jakarta,” Boy said as quoted by kompas.com.
Neighbors found on Thursday night Japanese expatriate Yasuo Hara and his wife Mizue Hara dead with stab wounds after they apprehended one of the suspects, who the police identified as Abdullah alias Asep. The suspect had worked for the foreign couple as a gardener until his dismissal a week before the murder.
Boy said Asep admitted to masterminding the murder and would be charged with premeditated murder, which carries maximum sentence of death.
