President advisor Jimly Ashidiqie said Monday he would ask to be temporarily suspended from his current position following his decision to run for Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman.
"I will submit my request to be suspended as a presidential advisor to the President. I am still finishing the letter," he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Jimly said that he must be suspended from his current position to allow a fair process in the KPK chairman selection.
"This is an ethical issue, I don't want to give an impression that the selection of KPK chairman is not objective because one of the candidates is a state institution official," he said.
