Indonesian, US marine squads hold joint training in East Java

The Indonesian Navy and the US Marine Corps have been conducting joint training exercises as of last Saturday on the edge of Baluran forest in Banyu Putih, Situbondo, East Java. The training is scheduled to last until Saturday.

The Indonesian marine personnel have shared their knowledge of jungle warfare with their US counterparts, while the guests will update the Indonesians' urban combat skills, Antara reported.

As many as 469 personnel of Indonesian navy and 660 marines of the American squad joined the one-week drill.

“The training aims to increase professional skills of navy personnel from each squad as well as to create ‘marines brotherhood’ spirit among them in order to strengthen Indonesia-US cooperation in defense field,” Indonesian marine officer 1st Lt. Mardiono said Tuesday as quoted by Antara.
