Woman dies after being struck by car

A woman was killed after being hit by a car, which later crash and caught fire,  on Jl. Jenderal Sudirman shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

“The woman was a pedestrian. She died on the scene. The body had been taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital,” Adj. Comr. Sugeng Budiono of Jakarta Police Traffic Management Center told Antara news agency. He did not give the woman's identity.

Sugeng said the car crashed into a tree, rolled over and later caught fire after hitting the woman.

The car driver, identified as Haikal, suffered serious injury and was taken to Pertamina Hospital.
