House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie from the Democratic Party says that the legislative body will exclusively allocate the days of Wednesday and Thursday for deliberating bills.
“In our first semester, we put more focus on our monitoring function. So, we have decided to put more focus on our legislative function by having two days – Wednesday and Thursday – exclusively focused on deliberating bills,” Marzuki told reporters at the House in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Thursday.
Marzuki added that all proposals of bills would be ready for the House to deliberate by the end of July.
“If we can do that, then hopefully by the end of the year, the bills can be endorsed into laws,” he said.
The House targeted around 70 priority bills to be endorsed into laws by the end of 2010. According to the House official website, the legislative body has endorsed 20 laws until now, but none of them is part of the 2010 priority bills.
