Most flights from Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Bali, were delayed for several hours after an Indonesian airforce training plane crashed on the runway after a mid-air collision on Thursday afternoon, kompas.com reported.
“We have to clean up the debris from the plane crash on the edge of the airport’s runaway. The cleanup will take some time, causing delays to some flights,” Ngurah Rai operations officer Hadi Semadi said Thursday.
Earlier in the day, two training planes collided in midair, causing one of them to crash on to the runway. Pilot pilot Col. Ramot Sinaga and passenger Udayana Military Command chief Maj. Gen Rachmat Budiyanto bailed out of the aircraft before it crashed, suffering minor injuries. The other plane survived the incident, and remained airborne.
