em>From the incident of the leaked sex video allegedly involving Luna Maya (LM) and Ariel Peterpan (AP), an Indonesian version of the Tiger Wood's scandal, one may conclude that we Indonesians are ambivalent about sex. We have a contradictory attitude toward sex in our public and private lives.
Privately, sexual matters are subjects of relaxed and casual conversation. People can joke about it generously. People are eager to share the file of the LM and AP sex tape.
It is only a file of no more than 8,000 kilobytes, which can be sent via email or copied on a flash stick. In a minute, a hundred copies can be produced effortlessly. (By Al Makin, Yogyakarta)

I feel this article is very inappropriate. It focuses on "it is OK to say whatever you like with little consideration of those around you who must endure your views" To suggest that it is right for a teacher to joke about sex in the classroom completely ignores any sensitivities that students may have at this challenging phase in their life. Sure, keep rule makers' views out of our bedrooms, but please don't assume we really want to know yours.

I enjoyed reading it and it accurately portrays the attitude Indonesians have toward the subject matter. These people are just a bunch of hypocrites. I can't believe Ariel was detained - is this a cover-up for the fact that they are unable to find out who originally uploaded the videos?
