JAKARTA: Former Tangerang District Court judge Muhtadi Asnun will likely be tried on bribery charges in the same court over which he once presided
AKARTA: Former Tangerang District Court judge Muhtadi Asnun will likely be tried on bribery charges in the same court over which he once presided.
Police have submitted his dossier to the Tangerang Prosecutors' Office, which means the case will be heard in Tangerang.
Asnun led a three-judge panel which acquitted former tax official Gayus Tambunan of money laundering charges. He later admitted that he accepted Rp 50 million (US$5,500) from Gayus.
The Attorney General's Office has no reason to change the trial venue, AGO representative Didiek Darmanto said.
"If there is any reason, it would be security - but so far, we don't have any," he said Friday, as quoted by vivanews.com.
Asnun was free to request a change of venue himself, Didiek said. - JP
