Most owners of private cars above 2000 cc have expressed their objection toward the government’s plan to forbid them from using non-subsidized fuel.
“We pay our annual taxes. Therefore, we have the right to subsidized fuel,” Semarang resident Anshori said Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com. Anshori drives a BMW sedan.
Anshori further said the government was about to conduct “a useless effort,” as most Indonesians would find loopholes to get subsidized fuel.
Yusuf, owners of the 1994 Honda Cielo sedan with a 2000 cc machine, also stated a similar rejection on the limitation of the subsidized fuel plan. He said that his choice was considered “a non-luxurious car, yet lavish in terms of fuel consumption”.
As previously reported, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Darwin Zahedy said the government would forbid owners of private cars above 2000 cc to be subsidized fuel as of this year.
Meanwhile, all land public transportation as well as motorcycles are allowed to consume the subsidized fuel, said Darwin.
