One worker dead, three injured in factory explosion

A giant water heater belonging to a hard paper producer in the Bundar Industrial Plant in Tangerang exploded early on Monday, killing a worker and wounding three others.

Cikupa Police chief Insp. Yuli Haryudo said the accident at PT Pos Prima took place at around 1 a.m.

“The coal-fired water heater suddenly exploded and hit the workers,” he said.

Arma, 30, died instantly, while Sugiono, Mulyana and Husirin suffered serious head wounds and were taken to Tangerang General Hospital.

Yuli said the police were investigating whether the accident was a result of negligence or a technical error.
