Jacobus Purwono, the Energy Ministry’s director-general for electricity and energy, was named a suspect in a graft case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday.
The KPK also named, Kosasih, another energy Ministry official, as a suspect in the case.
KPK spokesman Johan Budi alleges that the pair accepted Rp 4.6 billion ($US506,000) in bribes to treat a contractor favorably when soliciting solar system proposals in 2007 and 2008.
“We have preliminary proof, which is enough to launch a corruption investigation,” Johan said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
The suspects will be charged under the 2001 law on anticorruption.
