In accordance with Jakarta’s 483rd anniversary celebrations, the city will host National Monument (Monas) Festival from July 8-11.
The event will present an exhibition of 12 museums in Jakarta, a kite festival a a street soccer competition.
“The event will show that Monas is not just about Jakarta, but it is an icon for the whole country,” Central Jakarta deputy mayor Fatahillah said Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The capital would work in conjunction with Cirebon, Sumedang, Bandung and Tasikmalaya, West Java, to organize the festival, he said.
Sumedang would donate 10,000 trees as part of Jakarta’s green program, Fatahillah said.
