Comment: Bad traffic hampers evacuation in Jakarta

em>June 27, Online: Jakarta, famous for its bad traffic and tall buildings often faces the aforementioned challenges in conducting emergency rescues and evacuations by ambulances, the city health agency officer says. “The main challenge is bad traffic, then the skyscrapers. Our ambulances are often trapped in severe traffic jams when heading to accident scenes...”

Your comments:
Perhaps if the police monitored all those ambulances driving through Jakarta with flashing lights and sirens, which are simply being used to transport school children or non-emergency cases, the other drivers would have more respect for emergency vehicles. It is interesting as well the number of ambulances in “emergency mode” during rush hour. Emergency vehicles have to earn respect.
