A Indonesian student who went missing after entering the water at a popular surfers Fistral beach in Cornwall, Britain, is feared drowned.

British The Independent news website reported that the 26-year-old Indonesian man appeared to struggle in the ocean on Sunday afternoon while swimming with a female companion.

A surfer spotted the pair in difficulty in the sea and headed toward them on his board, according to the local Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The male swimmer disappeared from view but the surfer managed to rescue the woman and took her back to the beach where he raised the alarm to lifeguards.

Falmouth Coastguard mounted a search, marshaling teams including a rescue helicopter and lifeboats, and a Fisheries Protection vessel.
