ENPASAR: In a move to protect the resort island’s environment, Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika has called on the island’s supermarkets and malls to stop using plastic carrier bags.
“Plastic bags should be replaced with paper bags,” he told Antara, adding that it took 1,000 years for plastic bags to decompose naturally.
The island’s urban areas produce an average of 5,094 cubic meters of garbage every day. — JP
