All eyes on Tiger at Irish golf celebrity pro-am

A- A A+

Tiger Woods will be headlining an Irish charity tournament this week, though it could be his last with his No. 1 ranking.

Woods is seeking to regain past form before next week's British Open at St. Andrews, but could lose the top ranking for the first time in five years before then.

His No. 2-ranked rival Phil Mickelson, who missed a chance to become No.1 at the U.S. Open, gets another opportunity at the PGA-ranked Scottish Open this weekend at Loch Lomond, which Woods has decided to skip.

However, Woods will play in the J.P. McManus Invitational Pro-Am, a two-day event in Adare which starts Monday.

Woods flew overnight by private jet to make his afternoon tee time in Ireland after finishing in 46th place Sunday at the AT&T National in Pennsylvania.
