Politicians are servants, not rats, says PKS

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) says Indonesia’s politicians must become public servants, not rats.

“For us, politicking is not a matter of biting one another like rats,” PKS senior politician Mahfudz Siddiq said at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday.

“We have to be servants of the public,” he added.

Mahfudz was responding to a recent statement from Golkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie.

Aburizal said all Golkar members had to act like rats in their political maneuvers in the sense that they had to sniff carefully before biting anything or anyone.
