BOGOR: Bogor Police questioned people at Yayasan Permata Hati (YPH) orphanage in Bogor on Wednesday on allegations of child trafficking
OGOR: Bogor Police questioned people at Yayasan Permata Hati (YPH) orphanage in Bogor on Wednesday on allegations of child trafficking.
Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Nugroho Slamet Wibowo said Women and Children Service Unit officers were investigating the orphanage’s license and documentation, and several meetings between orphanage officials and birth parents.
“We will be very careful before naming criminal suspects,” he said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
On June 14, Rohani, 18, filed a report with police after the YPH allegedly denied a request to meet with her twin children, Anisa and Andri, who were then in the orphanage’s care.
The police will present Andri and his adoptive mother on Thursday. The pair are in Kalimantan and are key witnesses in the investigation, according to police.
Anisa is in the custody of Child Protection Social Services in Bambu Apus, East Jakarta.
The investigation of YPH started after the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (YPAI) and the Bogor Police searched the orphanage and found several cases of alleged child neglect and infant trafficking. — JP
